    About Nathan Duncan

    Experienced School Leader and International Volunteer

    Experienced instructional education professional Nathan Duncan, husband of UMC Maggie Valley pastor, Ann, has a diverse background in teaching, school leadership, and international studies. After graduating with a degree in education, Nathan Duncan traveled to Guinea with the Peace Corps. Over two years, he contributed to agroforestry efforts in the West African country.

    He went on to gain teaching credentials in North Carolina, Alaska, and Colorado. Following several assignments working as a history, social science, and geography teacher in Maggie Valley and elsewhere, he returned to Africa with his wife Ann to teach natural resource management. Several years after his second Peace Corps tour ended, Nathan Duncan started a principal internship at Rosman Elementary School.

    He subsequently served as Head of School for the Academy at Trails Carolina, where he onboarded and coordinated a staff of 26 professionals. In 2017, he completed the educational leadership master’s program at the Queen's University of Charlotte. He has also completed a training program with the National Outdoor Leadership School.
